The safety relay for the Mitsubishi CR2 controller is a safety-critical component of the older CR2 controller generation. As the core component of the safety circuit, this relay ensures the reliable shutdown of all robot drives during safety-relevant events such as an emergency stop or the opening of the safety fence.
Function of the safety relay in the CR2
The safety relay in the CR2 controller forms the heart of the safety shutdown. It processes signals from all connected safety devices – emergency stop buttons, safety door contacts, light barriers and enabling switches – and, when triggered, disconnects the power supply to the servo motors. At the same time, the mechanical holding brakes of all axes are activated to prevent uncontrolled movement of the robot.
