The Motor Assy J1 for the Mitsubishi RV-12S and RV-12SL is the main drive of the base axis of this 6-axis industrial robot with 12 kg payload. This brushless DC motor with integrated encoder provides precise position control of the rotary motion around the vertical base axis and thus enables fast and exact positioning of the entire robot arm in the workspace.
Technical features and function
The J1 axis forms the base of every 6-axis articulated robot. The servo motor drives the rotation of the complete robot structure around the vertical axis. On the RV-12S/SL, this motor has to cope with particularly high moments of inertia, as it moves the entire arm with up to 12 kg payload. The high-resolution encoder system delivers precise position data to the controller and enables repeatability in the range of hundredths of a millimeter.
Installation position
The motor is mounted in the robot base (pedestal) and drives the horizontal rotation of the entire upper body via a strain wave gear. As a load-bearing axis, it is designed for maximum reliability and service life. In the event of signs of wear such as increased backlash, unusual noises or position deviations, the motor should be replaced promptly.
