The motor J2 RV-12S is available from ROBTEC as an original spare part, ex stock.

The Motor Assy J2 for the Mitsubishi RV-12S and RV-12SL is the drive motor of the shoulder axis of this 6-axis articulated robot with 12 kg payload. As a brushless DC motor with integrated encoder, this servo motor provides precise position control for the vertical swivel motion of the upper arm — one of the most heavily loaded axes in the robot system.

Technical features and function

The J2 axis is the shoulder of the robot and has to move the entire mass of upper arm, forearm, wrist and payload against gravity. On the RV-12S/SL with 12 kg payload, this requires a motor with high continuous torque and sufficient peak torque for dynamic movements. The brushless servo motor meets these requirements through its robust design and efficient energy conversion. The encoder ensures exact position tracking even under load.

Installation position

Mounted in the shoulder joint between base and upper arm. The J2 motor swivels the entire upper arm vertically, working against gravity in the process. Typical signs of wear are an increased motor current level, position errors during vertical movements or unusual vibrations in the shoulder area.
