The motor J1/J2 for the Mitsubishi RV-F heavy-duty series is a powerful servo motor for the base and shoulder axes of these large 6-axis industrial robots with payloads of 7 to 20 kg. As a brushless DC motor with integrated encoder, it enables precise position control of the two main axes and reliably moves the considerable masses of these heavy-duty robots.
Technical features and function
The RV-F series represents the most powerful generation of Mitsubishi articulated robots. From the RV-7FLL (long-long reach, 7 kg) through the RV-13F/FL (13 kg) to the RV-20F (20 kg), these robots cover demanding handling, welding and machining tasks. The J1/J2 motor has to move moments of inertia that are many times those of the compact class. The robust design with high-quality bearings and powerful magnets ensures reliability even under continuous load.
Installation position
- J1 (base): horizontal rotation of the entire robot structure — highest moments of inertia
- J2 (shoulder): vertical swivel of the upper arm — highest gravitational loads
In the heavy-duty class, these motors are exposed to extreme mechanical loads. Regular monitoring of the motor temperature and the current consumption is advisable.
