The Motor Assy J3 for the Mitsubishi RV-3AL drives the elbow axis of this compact 6-axis robot with extended reach and 3 kg payload. As a brushless DC motor with integrated encoder, this servo motor enables precise position control of the forearm and is thus essential for the workspace coverage of the long-reach model.
Technical features and function
The RV-3AL is the long-reach variant of the RV-3A series and offers an enlarged working radius with an unchanged payload of 3 kg. The J3 axis (elbow) has a particularly important function on the long-reach model, as the extended forearm generates greater leverage forces. The servo motor therefore has to provide higher torques combined with precise control. The brushless technology ensures low-maintenance operation and constant performance over the entire service life.
Installation position
Installed in the elbow joint between upper arm and forearm. The J3 motor swivels the forearm and thus also the downstream wrist with tool and payload. On the long-reach model, the leverage ratios are greater, which leads to a higher mechanical load on the motor.

Availability
Mitsubishi has discontinued production. Spare parts are now only available in limited quantities worldwide. Long-reach variants are less widespread, which makes the search for spare parts even more difficult.
